Small. But Deadly.

So; having noticed that the last time I posted a blog was at the beginning of June; most of you must, by now, think that I’m some sort of Ent or closely related to a glacier , such is my lack of speed.

Now, in my defence, we have been monstrously busy lately. The brewery is pretty much running at full tilt, with the chillers (and the brewer, come to think of it) close to meltdown. Having a summer for the first time in about three years is lovely, of course, but does make brewing just a little unpleasant. The best / worst temperature that we’ve recorded so far is 37° , which puts us on a par with some of those parts of Australia that don’t make the adverts.

We’ve also been trying to get into every summer event that we can to evangelize more Untapped converts (‘Put down the Dutch lager and step back from the can!’). Combine this with both of us having families, partners who haven’t seen us awake / at all for most of this year and dogs with off the charts ADD and perhaps you can forgive us for being less reliable than the Stone Roses for newly released material.

I shouldn’t make excuses, though, we said we’d keep you up to date with all that’s new and improved and, dammit, so we shall.

The big news of the last few weeks has been the release of our brand new minipins. Not, as you may have thought, the name of a Munchkin biker gang, but a 5 litre keg of Untapped loveliness that you can take home and keep in your fridge. The best thing about them is that, unlike some other versions you can get, these aren’t carbonated bland beers, but properly cask conditioned beers, just like you have in your local.

But cheaper.

We made up a small run to see how they went, and they sold like, well, like really good tasty beer in July. We sold out unbelievably fast and now we have a multitude of Untapped fans banging on the door like escapees from Zombieland demanding more. The good news is that we’re going to be making a load more this week that will be available from the first weekend in August.

The even better news is that we’re going to roll out the minipins across the entire range. We’ll be doing some every time we brew from now on. So, if you have a particular favourite, drop us a line / have a word at a market and we’ll put one aside for you. Personally, I can’t wait until it’s time to make Ember again, because I’m clearing a space in the fridge already.

Go onto our Facebook site, if you want to see a photo of what all the fuss is about. Oh, and I defy you to say the word ‘Minipin’ 5 times in a row without dropping into a Dr. Evil impression…

Right, that’s it for now - Beth’s away and I’m going to crank up the dvd with a movie she’d hate. Probably by Christopher Nolan. I promise to write again soon.
